H2 digital auto-focus camera
Hasselblad

The Hasselblad H2 camera is the finest medium format dual-platform camera on the market today, handling digital and analogue capture with equal ease. It is designed for the toughest professional use and is equipped with an impressive array of user-friendly features.

The H2 camera builds on the success of the Hasselblad H1 camera, providing new features that make digital high-end capture as easy as point-and-shoot. New features include integral supply of power to the new Hasselblad Ixpress CFH digital back to enhance the ease of use and mobility of the system, additional metadata stored in the image file to make further image enhancement possible, and functions to support the ”Instant-approval architecture” in the Ixpress CFH digital back.

Large format digital capture
The H2 camera provides digital capture using sensors more than twice the physical size of today’s 35mm sensors. These larger sensors hold more and larger pixels, which ensures the highest possible image quality and moiré free color rendering without gradation break-ups - in even the most subtly lit surfaces and with low noise in shadow areas.

Full range of high performance lenses
The H2 lens program is designed and engineered by Hasselblad to meet the highest optical specifications. H System lenses cover a wide spectrum of focal lengths and feature the fastest and most precise 645 autofocus system on the market today. The integral lens shutters in H System lenses allow flash sync down to 1/800 second and provide silent and vibration-free operation.

Superior views
Your camera’s viewfinder is perhaps most important interface between you and your subject. The large, bright viewfinder on the H2 camera gives you a crisp and clear view of your work, enabling you to work in even dim lighting with perfect results. In addition, the HV 90X viewfinder offers near 100% image view and diopter correction for vision problems. The large eyepiece also allows full image view even when wearing glasses.
The grip LCD and the viewfinder LCD are of dot-matrix type. This means that the camera is able to present clear and easy-to-understand information and messages instead of fixed and sometimes not so obvious symbols

Customizable
The H2 includes over 25 functions that can be custom-tailored by the user, providing easily programmed buttons that can be used as short-cuts to the camera’s most used function. In this way you can instantly reach your favorite function with the click of a button. The H2 is a complex piece of gear and has a wide range of functions that can be set by the user for optimal use. A “Profiles” function is included to provide a fool-proof way of making these changes. The profile is actually a memory where all settings in the camera can be stored with a single button click. This memory can then later be recalled with another simple button click, saving you time and, perhaps most importantly, preventing crucial mistakes from happening.

Advanced flash features
The viewfinder also features a compact flash. While primarily intended to be used as a fill flash, it can also be used as main flash in certain cases. The flash has a metric guide number of 12, but when used as fill flash with -2 stops adjustment it is equal to guide number 24. With the SCA 3902 flash adapter, any flash compatible with the SCA3002 system can be used. This means that you can choose from small and compact flashes for extremely portable use, as well as larger and more powerful flashes when so required. The built-in flash metering system is designed to be used when working with manually controlled flashes, such as studio flashes.

Advanced film options
The film back for the H2 camera features inserts than can handle both 120 and 220 film with automatic film type and ISO value setting when using Fujii bar coded film. Film wind-on and wind-off is also automatic with all films. In addition, the customizable data imprinting feature allows data, such as exposure parameters, to be printed along the film edge and outside of the image area. The imprint function can include a user selectable text string that will also be printed on the film. This text string is also added to the image meta data when using Hasselblad Ixpress CF or Ixpress CFH digital backs.

Instant Approval Architecture
The H2/CFH combination also provides you with Hasselblad’s new Instant Approval Architecture, bringing automated image classification into your digital workflow from the split second of capture.

Limitless digital image capture loses some of its potential if you can’t quickly review and select the best images from your shoot. Building on the success of its Audio Exposure Feedback technology, Hasselblad is proud to introduce Instant Approval Architecture (IAA), an enhanced set of feedback tools, designed to allow you to focus on your shooting rather than the selection process. IAA triggers audible and visible signals for each image captured, immediately telling you whether the image has an approved, rejected, or borderline status. This is represented as a red, amber or green light and is recorded both in the file and in the file name, providing a quick and easy way to classify and select images, in the field or in the lab. The larger, enhanced OLED display in the new Hasselblad products provides a realistic, high quality and perfect contrast image view, even in bright sunlight, to allow instant on-site image approval. IAA is a Hasselblad trademark and is patent pending.

A Future-safe investment
The software in the H2 camera is easily upgradeable, meaning that existing cameras will be able to gain new features simply by upgrading the camera firmware. This upgrade can easily be carried out by the user by simply connecting the camera with an Ixpress CF or Ixpress CFH digital back to a computer and downloading the upgrade. The H2 camera is built to the same, extremely strict standards that have always has been used by Hasselblad, ensuring a long life even with tough use. However, all cameras, just like cars, requires regular service to function optimally. Naturally, as with all Hasselblad products, the new H2 gives you access to the full range of Hasselblad service and support, ensuring that your investment will last you a long time to come.
