H2D digital auto-focus camera
Hasselblad
The H2D, designed around the Hasselblad H2 camera with its wide range of high performance, leaf shutter based lenses, brings an unprecedented level of integration and flexibility to the serious photographer.
It’s Anything But Medium For the dedicated digital photographer, ultimate quality is about higher resolution, less noise, and improved integration. The H2D provides all this and more, and uses sensors more than twice the physical size of today’s 35mm sensors, providing a greater number of larger pixels. This increased size ensures the highest possible image quality, providing moiré free color rendering without gradation break-ups on even the most subtly lit surfaces. In addition, the sensor is placed so as to provide easy access for cleaning or maintenance.
Flexible operation, flexible storage Optimum portability and image storage are critical for the professional photographer and the H2D enables you to select a mode to suit the nature of the work at hand, whether in the studio or on location. With the H2D you can choose between portable CF card storage, flexible Firewire drives, or tethered operation with extended, special capture controls.
Direct shooting to Adobe DNG Hasselblad has partnered closely with Adobe to make its new products fully compatible with Adobe’s raw image format DNG (‘Digital NeGative’), bringing this new technology standard to the professional photographer for the first time. The DNG file format enables raw, lossless compressed image files to be opened directly in Adobe PhotoShop. This allows photographers to operate quickly and efficiently, reducing the “downtime” taken to process image data and enabling final images to reach the customer more quickly. Hasselblad image files now carry full sets of metadata, including capture conditions, keywords and copyright, facilitating work with image asset management solutions. For specialist commercial photographers the full productivity and creative freedom offered by Hasselblad’s FlexColor workflow software is also available via importing the DNG file.
Instant Approval Architecture Limitless digital image capture loses some of its potential if the photographer cannot quickly review and select the best images to present to the client. Building on the success of its Audio Exposure Feedback technology, Hasselblad has created Instant Approval Architecture (IAA), an enhanced set of feedback tools, designed to liberate the photographer to focus on the shoot rather than the selection process. IAA triggers audible and visible signals for each image captured, telling the photographer immediately whether the image has a red, amber or green light status.
The information is recorded both in the file and in the file name, providing a quick and easy way to classify and select images, in the field or in the lab. A larger, enhanced OLED display in the new Hasselblad products provides a realistic, high quality and perfect contrast image view, even in bright sunlight, to allow instant on-site image approval. IAA is a Hasselblad trademark and is patent pending.
“Instant” user interface The wide range of useful features present on the H2D are all operated using an intuitive and easy-to-use interface that puts the most commonly used functions a single button click away. These “instant” one-button-click operations include instant capture, instant browse, instant approval, instant zoom, and instant image info.
Color refinement – new color handling concept In the past, color management solutions have placed limitations on professional digital photographers, particularly when it came to capturing realistic skin tones, metals, fabrics, flowers, and other subtly colored objects. To help you deal with this challenge, Hasselblad has developed a powerful new color engine in its FlexColor workflow software. FlexcColor allows you to use a single camera set up to produce reliable out-of-the-box color without gradation, with skin tones and other difficult shades accurately reproduced.
FlexColor workflow for the specialist commercial photographer FlexColor enables you to create an image processing workflow that gives you the highest degree of control for your studio photography. In tethered operation, tools like live video and overlay masking help bring productivity to advanced set composition. The newest version of the FlexColor software enables you to manipulate color temperature and compare image details across multiple images for precise image selection. FlexColor uses the raw DNG files generated by the H2D and runs on both Macintosh and Windows computers. The software is licensed to allow you to provide free copies for all your co-workers and production partners.
Last, but Not Least Naturally, as with all Hasselblad products, the new H2D gives you access to the full range of Hasselblad service and support, ensuring that your investment will last you a long time to come. And the latest firmware updates to your H-system camera are always just a download away.
