The RDC-5300 is a blend of the features of traditional photography with the benefits of digital, resulting in a camera that offers the best of both worlds. The camera not only looks and feels like a 35MM camera, but it's 2.3 million pixel CCD capture images with enough definition to yield full size prints. The cameras 3X all glass, aspherical optical zoom lens provides superior image quality. Although fully automatic, all the camera's controls, such as white balance and exposure and focus may be, overridden to create stunning effects. If you like photography, you'll love this camera.

3x Continuous Optical Zoom Lens
The RDC-5300 is equipped with a powerful 3x optical zoom lens, producing focal distances of 8-24 mm---equivalent to a 38-114 mm zoom lens on a 35mm camera. This enables you to precisely capture the image you want, without enlarging the picture digitally and losing resolution.

Super Macro Mode
Move between wide-angle close-up shots and distant landscape shots quickly and easily with the RDC-5300's smoothly functioning autofocus. Simply frame your subject, depress the shutter release, and the lens will automatically adjust.




Continuous Photography
you shoot, enabling you to take photographs at 1-second intervals. This feature is the default setting for the RDC-5300, so you can just pick up your camera and start shooting away.


Auto Exposure Bracketing
The Auto Exposure Bracketing Mode allows you to take the same shot at three exposure settings. With a single release of the shutter, your shot is captured 3 times, once at the set exposure and again at +0.5EV and -0.5EV exposure settings. settings.


Universal Serial Bus (USB) Connections
The USB cable connection enables high-speed data transfer between the RDC-5300 and your computer running Windows98 or Macintosh OS 8.5 or greater (iMac and Power Macintosh G3).* You can also use this feature to turn the camera into a removable drive for the temporary transfer of large volumes of data or use it as a SmartMedia card drive. Data transfer speedswithUSBconnections are significantly faster than with serial connections. For details, please refer to the chart below.

8MB On-board RAM/SmartMedia Cards
Image processing time is minimized with the RDC-5300's powerful 8MB of internal RAM. In addition, 64 MB SmartMedia cards can easily handle large images, or store a whole series of smaller snapshots

Real-time Display with Protective Monitor Cover
Even if you move the camera while taking a shot, the LCD monitor will display a crisp, clear image with no blurring. The lens cover and monitor cover of the RDC-5300 can be operated independently, so even while taking photographs, you can leave the monitor cover closed to protect the display from fingerprints and other damage.


Secure Palm Grip
The grip on the RDC-5300 is designed to fit snugly into your right hand, enabling you to hold the camera securely and steadily. This minimizes camera movements that might cause blurred shots.


Autofocus; Manual Focus
The RDC-5300's autofocus ensures your images are clearly focused every time, leaving you free to concentrate on the composition of your shot. If you prefer, switch to manual focus and you have total freedom to adjust the focus.


Exposure Compensation
The RDC-5300 makes it easy to photograph subjects in strong lighting with automatic back lighting compensation. You can also manually adjust the exposure in 0.5 EV steps for an EV range of +2.0 to -2.0.


Built-in Flash and External Flash Mount
The RDC-5300's built in flash uses Ricoh's latest flash technology to ensure you get the best possible shot every time. You can choose from Auto Flash, Slow Synchro, Red-eye Reduction and Flash Off modes, or attach an external flash unit. With the RDC-5300, you have the freedom to control the exact lighting for your shot.

AutoWhite Balance
Auto White Balance automatically adjusts to prevent discoloration in a variety of lighting situations. For greater control in specific lighting conditions, select from Daylight, Overcast, Fluorescent Light and Tungsten Light settings.

Zoom Playback
The Zoom Playback Mode enables you to magnify and examine any part of a selected image in extreme detail, so you can confirm the clarity and exact composition of a shot before using it for other applications..


2.5x Digital Zoom
The 2.5x digital zoom enhances the already powerful zoom capabilities of the RDC-5300. The camera digitally enlarges the image in the center 1/4 of the normal 1792 x 1200-pixel image to full screen size. This enlarged image is captured in the 896 x 600-pixel mode. When used in combination with the camera's 3x optical zoom, this digital zoom feature gives the RDC-5300 an incredible 7.5x zoom performance.


Sequential File Numbering
Sequential file numbering eliminates the risk of duplicating file names or inadvertently overwriting files when downloading images to a computer. The RDC-5300 remembers the last file name assigned and automatically assigns a sequential number to the next image file. Even after the SmartMedia has been changed, the RDC-5300 continues to number the files in sequence.


Multi-picture Playback

When you wish to review stored images quickly, the LCD monitor can be divided to display six images at one time. Use the zoom button to move through the displayed images and easily select the ones you wish to view.


Video Output
Images from the RDC-5300 can be displayed on ordinary TV screens simply by linking the video output connections to a TV monitor.


Video Output Format Flexibility
The RDC-5300 is compatible with both the PAL and NTSC signal standards for video output. This flexibility allows you to display images on TV monitors, using the supplied cables, almost anywhere in the world, for business or for pleasure.


Optional Remote Control
The remote control unit gives you hands-free control of the camera: perfect for taking self-portraits or group shots you want to be a part of.
