See the world from a wider perspective
A mountain range at sunset. A stormy coastline. Or four generations of family in a single shot. With its extra-wide lens capability, the ESPIO 24EWDate lets you capture a dramatic range of images from panoramic landscapes to eye-catching close-ups. Its high-performance 4.4-times smc PENTAX zoom lens offers wide-to-telephoto coverage with outstanding image clarity and sharpness. An innovative Portrait mode ensures perfectly proportioned portraits even from a distance. And a passive 7-point autofocus system locks onto off-center subjects for perfect focus in any composition. Encased in a stylish, silver aluminum body, the lightweight ESPIO 24EWDate is the perfect travel companion for any point-and-shoot photographer wanting to capture life from a wider perspective.

Features:

The high-performance 4.4-times smc PENTAX zoom lens offers outstanding wide-to-telephoto coverage to capture subjects with impressive clarity and sharpness. The 24mm ultra-wide-angle creates dramatic wide-perspective images—ranging from group snapshots to panoramic landscape images to uniquely distorted architectural photos. The ESPIO 24EWDate's zoom macro capability zeroes in on subjects as close as 11 inches at the 24mm wide-angle setting and at 20 inches at the 105mm telephoto setting. This ESPIO offers powerful 0.27X magnification at the telephoto end. With the acclaimed smc PENTAX lens, glare and ghost images are reduced to a minimum, while dual aspheric elements enhance image quality and reduce body size.
Despite a powerful 4.4-times zoom lens and a host of features, the lightweight ESPIO 24EWDate fits handily into a shirt pocket or small purse. Made of high-quality aluminum for visual appeal and comfort, every control device is carefully designed for quick, easy access.
An innovative Portrait mode fixates the zoom lens on a standard subject size so photographers may move freely about their subjects and effortlessly capture proportioned portraits from a set distance.
The Infinity-landscape mode allows users to instantly fix the focus at infinity at any focal length and capture distant landscapes in sharp focus.
The ESPIO 24EWDate's passive, seven-point autofocus system ensures focus accuracy on subjects from distances of less than one foot up to infinity. The passive feature and wide focus frame help solve difficult focusing situations, and the Spot AF mode pinpoints the focus on any single, small element of the image.
Assisted by a sophisticated, multi-pattern metering system, the ESPIO 24EWDate's auto-exposure control produces stunning images frame after frame even when the subject is backlit or shaded.
When the ESPIO 24EWDate's auto-exposure system detects either low-light or backlit conditions, an auto zoom “soft flash” function discharges fill-in illumination for optimal exposure of subjects at close range. A “red-eye” reduction function minimizes red-eye effect at night or indoors.* The ESPIO 24EWDate also is designed to simplify flash applications, including daylight sync, slow-shutter-speed sync and bulb sync, so dramatic flash images may be captured with minimal effort. The handy Flash-off mode helps in settings where flash is prohibited or a dramatic visual effect from ambient lighting is desired. *This function does not eliminate “red eyes” in all instances
The actual-image zoom viewfinder automatically zooms back and forth in proportion to the selected focal length of the zoom lens to indicate the exact image area for easy framing. With a light push on the shutter release button, a distance indicator informs the photographer of the subject's approximate distance with four symbols — Macro, Portrait, Snapshot and Landscape. The built-in diopter adjustment allows the viewfinder image to match the individual's eyesight within the range of –3m-1 to +1m-1 for the clearest possible view of the subject. The Panorama mode allows mid-roll switching of the picture frame from standard to horizontally extended panorama.
The large LCD panel on the camera's top panel displays a full range of vital operational information with easy-to-identify symbols, letters and digits to confirm the camera's status at a quick glance, and the LCD panel illuminates for shooting in the dark.
The ESPIO 24EWDate offers versatile Exposure compensation with pushbutton control for shift exposure in 1/2 EV increments within a wide compensation range of ± 3EV to allow both under or overexposure of images.
The Bulb mode will extend exposure time from 1/2 second to one minute and keep the shutter open as long as the shutter release button is depressed. The bulb-timer mode allows for the preset of one of 10 exposure durations — from one second to five minutes — and single-press shutter release to avoid camera shake. Both modes can be used to emphasize nighttime illumination, such as city skylines and fireworks.
When left unused for three minutes with the power on, the camera's zoom lens automatically retracts and the power is simultaneously turned off.
Using an optional remote control, the ESPIO 24EWDate's shutter can be released from a distance with a three-second delay.
The ESPIO 24EWDate automatically imprints the shooting date or day and time on each photograph, and it adjusts the imprint position of this data when the Panorama mode is selected. Whenever the camera is turned on, a “final date” function displays the date the camera was last used to help monitor film deterioration if the camera is not used for extended periods of time.
